12b-1 MUTUAL FUND
A MUTUAL FUND that charges investors for its annual marketing and promotion expenses (which can range from under 25 BASIS POINTS to a maximum of 8.5 percent). 12b1 funds are generally sold through BROKERS or financial planners, who require the additional compensation in order to distribute fund shares.
